One of the essential requisites to ensure before starting yoga is serenity. The atmosphere has to be silent and well-ventilated. Turning on soft music is also not a bad idea. The serenity will enhance breathing and concentration. Noise prevents you from connecting to your inner mind and body, reducing cognizance of its basic needs. The best time to do yoga at home is early in the morning or the evening as this is often the time when noise is minimal. You will come to the point of self-realization faster. Also, the environment must be free from insects or any form of distraction.

Clothing

Your choice of clothing largely influences your yoga practices. Ensure you pick only clothes that make you free and comfortable and poses little or no hindrance. Skintight clothes often limit movement and may result in injuries during practice. Preferably, select cotton materials which will allow free flow of air and sweat absorption. Also, take off spectacles, wristwatches or any jewelry.

Avoid Heavy Meals

Practicing yoga can be uncomfortable with a full stomach. This is one of the important precautions to note before starting yoga. It is recommended that you start your practice 30 minutes after a cup of coffee early in the morning. If that is inconvenient, start your practice at least 2 hours after breakfast or 4 hours after lunch. At that time, digestion would have occured. If you feel the need to use the restroom, then by all means do. Eliminate all elements of abdominal discomfort since some poses focus on the abdomen. You will also feel more relaxed.

Ensure you are properly hydrated

To prevent cramps during exercise, keep your body sufficiently hydrated. Often, two glass of water before starting the exercise often does the trick. It is essential that you take a bath before starting to make practicing yoga a lot easier. Also, take a shower 10-15 minutes after practice to clean your body of sticky perspiration. It invigorates your mind and body.

Use your yoga mat

No matter how clean and serene your environment is, you should never practice yoga on the bare floor, or on rough areas. Have your yoga mat placed on a smoothed floor. The mats or blankets often act as an insulator between the earth and your body. You can design your personalized yoga mat here.
